Theko your program is pretty nifty I wonder though, does the program check to see if you overspend on space? because I think I did, but it went ahead and printed the thing anyway. Just curious.

Theko , the ship construction program is really good but I did notice a couple of things you may want to double check.

    1. It seems your total offense value is a little off. I put 6 type X (total of 60 offense value) phasers on a ship and it gave me a penetration of 6/6/6 when the Narrators guide gives a penetration of 7/7/6.

    2. Also check the rule used for reliability on Weapons. The NG states "To determine the reliability of your weapon systems, total the offense value for all weapons..." (Italics mine). Your program seems to be determining reliability one weapon at time.

    Still a great job though.

Theko, I noticed one more thing you may want to check out ( I promise I want do this again ).

The number of transporters that the program allows is on a one to one basis but I beleive I read on one of the threads that for every point applied to tranporters you get a standard allotment.

For example, say I have a size 6 ship I start out with 3 standard 3 emergency and 3 cargo. Now if one point is added to transporters I would then have 6 standard, 6 emergency and 6 cargo.

    Just another friendly suggestion.

I have verified erratas and i found nothing about it... In the book, it cost one for every transport added.
give me the thread link and I am going to consider the validity of this correction.

Maybe that this correction is going to appear in the new starship book.

And continue to do suggestions. They are very welcome.

I've already brought this one up with Don and gotten the official answer on it. For 1 point of space, you get another allotment of transporters equal to half the ship's size. For example, a Size 6 Constitution-class would get 3 of each type of transporter at no space cost, and would get 3 more of each by spending 1 point of space.

    Talking

Is this another one of those "Don's responses aren't official" arguments that I find so amusing?

I just find it humorous that Dan quoted me quoting you to get the point across.

I love this thing. You put some numbers in, presto, instant starship.

That reminds me of a qoute from somebody concerning starship construction in the Star Trek universe, and why they don't just replicate them.
"Any species that can build a starship by pressing a button wouldn't need to build starships." Or words to that effect.

Hmm. I detect rambling. Inadequate sleep. Must go now.
