Unfortunately, your page attempts to crash my browser; can you possibly add a non-flash version? I use an older model PC running Windoze 95 (with IE5.5, of course ), as I don't generally need to use all the bells and whistles of 98, 2K, ad infinitum.

    Ta in advance!

OK, new machine, increased capabilities, and now Thekos site is down. Tried the Internet Archive to see if it was there, and it halts loading on the SWF intro. Not Good (tm).

So: Does anyone have a copy of this software that they can send me?

I have just tried to use it and I didn't know about it. It won't load at all on my machine, just gives me the internet's 404 warning/

Dangers of thread archæology, Roger. This thread is from 2002, and Thekos hasn't posted in over two years. Contrary to conventional wisdom, things do not persist on the web forever, only E-mail rumours...

    Tell me about it

Even the internet archive at http://www.archive.org/ wasn't much use - the swf file failed to load, and it was/is the key to his entire site

Still, one lives in hope, lol

Don't knock yourself, mate. I knew it was an old thread, but there WAS the chance that someone had a copy. Still is a chance, I hope

Off topic, I think that from a web design PoV, he made a BIG mistake in NOT putting a low-bandwidth freindly version (or even a 'skip the shockwave' link to a half-decent HTML-freindly menu) online. I don't think much of these SWF and other 'gimicky' web interfaces anyhow - more often than not, they just cause problems, so I don't use 'em. I LIKE the idea that my own site will be archived (not ST-related, so not noted here, and NOT the site noted in my sig strip!), anyhow, so there you go

Well I can recall the site myself and I have a nunber of the files from site (downloads, not the flash programme..) but the flash movie WAS how it all worked.. and it was very clever.. Flash can be used for more than just 'looking flashy' it can do allot of clever maths and 'Java' style functions. Shame it's no longer online.. maybe try and email the site owner?

Perhaps it can, but it makes archiving and therefore viewing after 'death' via the Internet Archive all but impossible, as I've yet to see SWF files archived there

Oh, and I *have* tried emailing the author - no reply.

Which is a hell of a shame, really.

If it's any help, I still have the Access 2000 program I posted about six months ago. I never got any feedback after the first couple of days so I thought no-one was interested... Then the change-over happened, and I started paying more attention to my own site.

It's had a few bug fixes and tweeks since the original version. Should be compatible with Starships (although there's a buggy NG version), and runs on your own machine rather than the webs - not so good for Apple users, obviously

Would anyone like me to re-post it?

There's also a Yahoo group, RPGTools, with an Excel spreadsheet available there (which I now have), at http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/rpgtools/

You'll obviously need a Yahoo profile, and will require the list owner to approve membership before you can download the sheet. Quite a handy thing, but you do need to know what you're doing with it. Still, handy none the less
