I'll take a look when I see the movie again this weekend... Thought it looked smaller.

    Valdore Dimensions

You can see a image of the chart if you go to concept artwork included on the Nemesis communicator download from the official site-Its not useful for detail but gives you the idea.

If you play SFC3- There is an Nemesis add-on that lets you play the Scimitar-included in the 10 meg download is a folder of wallpapers it is the concept artwork for all the vehicles in Nemesis-There are 3 different size images of the scale chart.

There are links to the image which is popping up all over the place.

    Nice artwork for the Valdore

Go to the Taldren website click on forums look under StarFleet Command general discussion.

In Star Trek Communicator issue 141

Page 52 Is the FX companies size comparison Chart for the Ships in Nemesis.

    The Valdore is

    604.5 Meters long

    908.3 Meters wide

    Hope that helps

The Official Site mistakenly gives the D'Deridex Class Warbird stats listed under "Romulan Weaponry" to a picture of the Valdore. As you can see by its size this vessel is roughly half the length of the D'Deridex Warbird.

My take: I felt that this was a more reasonable fit considering the stats for ships- even the proposed and advanced ships- listed in the Way of D'erara. Also, there were some errors. According to the core book, the structural points equals the sizeX20, and the power to raise a shield is equal to its protection.

    Hull Characteristics:
    Size: 9
    Resistance: 4
    Structural Points: 180

    Warp System: 6.0/8.5/9.7 [2/warp factor]
    Impulse System: .6 c/ .85c [5/7 pwr/round]

    Lateral Sensors: +2/1 light-year

Only problem is that as seen on film, either due to bad tactical use of the vessels, or something else we didn't see . . . these new Larger Warbirds did very little damage to the OPFOR and furthermore was able to withstand less damage then the Enterprise. Possible design flaw? Or were these taken from a spacedock of sorts, while under repair or retrofit, and used in this emergency situation. As it is that we have never seen these vessels used in front line actions before, or on screen for that matter.

He knew just were to hit us...

I took the Valore's quick departure from the field based on Shizon's knowledge of Romulan tactics and starship design.

He knew where they were weak, and where to hit them.

Like Odo taking out the Jem'Hadar bug with a runabout.

Because they were fighting someone who could fire while cloaked, my assumption was that skill counted for more than technology. More so than usual in this case. And while I am sure the Romulans were valiant and skilled, if the Enterprise crew had a slight edge it could make a big difference.

OR, perhaps Shinzon wanted to save Picard for last to savor the moment so he concentrated the early fire on the Romulans.

OR, Shinzon being a good tactitian knew it made good sense to concentrate fire on one ship to take it out quick so it wouldn't be contributing fire for as long... that is to say, better for the second half of the battle to be against one relatively undamaged ship than against two ships with shields at 50%.

    Doh!

Shizon wanted Picard alive as well.

No need to hold back on the warbirds.

    Sigh.

Sometimes the obvious takes awhile to sneak in the door.
